Your career can sometimes take you out of town for a couple of days. If this is the case, and even though you know you can rely on a relative or a friend to look after your child, it’s important to plan something for each day. For instance, you could record your voice on a CD with professional sound mastering from a company such as Nationwide Disc for them to listen before going to bed. Or you could make a small DIY doll each time you have to spend a night away. Being apart from you is a big deal with a child, so you need to show that you still think of them.

Finally, at the end of the day, you may just want to relax in peace. But you need to block in your busy schedule time to cultivate your bond with your child. Creating quality time doesn’t mean that you can’t work during the day. This is why working from home is always the best choice for moms, but it’s still important to remember that you just need to put aside your business and household duties every evening for one hour to dedicate this time entirely to your child. Your time together can become a routine. It doesn’t have to be long if you’re busy. But you need to maintain a bond through games, reading or simply a chat about your respective days.

Bonding while busy with home business management is never easy. But you’ll find that showing your child that you value their opinions, maintain a connection even when you’re away and make a point of spending time together when you’re at home can go a long way.
