Hey friend,

It’s not a good feeling when the week is going just fine, and then suddenly, I miss a night’s sleep. I’m sure you can relate. It happens to everyone, and in fact, it happens to me very regularly as I suffer from insomnia and have become an expert at getting through the day with little to no sleep and am well aware that lack of sleep causes everything to suddenly seem more difficult.

Still, we must keep going. It’s tempting to call off work or skip out on other responsibilities when a sleepless night hits, but you may be better off pushing through. Read on for some tips for getting through the day when you’ve had no sleep.

Enjoy Your Coffee

Yes, it’s true: caffeine can cause sleep issues. However, when we drink it early in the day and allow ourselves only about two cups, it shouldn’t have an effect at bedtime. I find that any additional cups of tea or coffee after two give me jitters, not any extra alertness.

The days when we miss sleep aren’t the days to take away what keeps us going. Brew the coffee and seize the day one step at a time.

Don’t Drive if You Don’t Have To

Doing some things when overtiredness takes over isn’t wise, and one of those things is driving. Avoid it if possible so that you don’t risk slower reactions and an accident. All the caffeine in the world can’t help us drive as well as we can when we get enough rest.

Take a Power Nap

I have never been a nap person, I am not able to sleep during the day plus who has time to just lay down? For sure not me. However, I know people who swear by naps and are able to pass out easily for a quick nap, so if you’re one of those weirdos ( JK… ;P)  Enjoy your coffee in the morning as a way to perk up, and then in the afternoon, give a 20-minute nap a try.

Consider Your Outfit

Hear me out on this—even if you work from home, your clothing matters. Did you know that the clothing colors we choose affect our mood for the day? When we wear clothing that makes us feel confident, happy, and attractive, it changes our outlook without us realizing it.

Think about how you feel in worn-out sweats and an old T-shirt, then think about how you feel in heels and a cute dress. Of course, none of us want to don a dress and heels while working at home, but we want to feel our best, especially the day after a sleepless night. Clothing makes or breaks our vibe, and when we’re exhausted, we need all the help we can get.

Take a Walk

Getting outside for some fresh air may be the best advice for getting through the day when you’ve had no sleep. Nothing can wake us up like a cool breeze and crisp air. During a break, bundle up and take a quick stroll around the block.

I hope you’ve found these tips helpful, and leave me any advice you may have in the comments. Oh, and don’t forget to subscribe before you go so you never miss out on new posts!
