Ways To Prepare For An At-Home Emergency
Hey there,
We all hope that we’ll never have to deal with an emergency, but it’s best to be prepared in case the unthinkable happens. With this in mind, I’ve compiled a list of the top ways to prepare for an emergency at home.
Ways To Prepare For An At-Home Emergency
A First Aid Kit
One of the most crucial ways to prepare for an emergency at home is to have a first aid kit. You should keep essential healthcare supplies in your home and include them in your first aid kit. I find it essential to have the right healthcare supplies available for any accidents and injuries.

A Battery-Powered Phone Charger
Having a battery-powered phone charger can come in handy if you ever lose power. Ensure your battery-operated phone charger is fully charged to ensure it will be helpful if you should ever need it, and keep it in a safe place in the house so you’ll be able to contact others if you lose power.
Extra Batteries
Whether it’s for a flashlight, phone charger, or even a radio, I like to keep extra batteries on hand in case of an emergency. Batteries can make a huge difference when you’re stuck in your home for a while.
Flashlights and Candles
Having flashlights and candles available if you lose power is crucial for your home. Consider keeping a few flashlights, batteries, candles, and matches or a lighter set aside for emergency use.
A Fire Extinguisher
In the event of a fire at your house, you’ll want to have a fire extinguisher at the ready. Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and near any fireplaces to be safe, and make sure your it isn’t expired.
Extra Water
In a natural disaster, you may lose access to clean water for your home. Having extra gallons of clean water on hand will be helpful if you ever get into a bad situation.
Non-Perishable Foods
Having extra non-perishable foods at home is imperative if you get stuck in the house. Keep additional canned goods and dry food to retain access to sustenance when you need it most. I keep my home emergency ready with an assortment of non-perishable food items.
