Thoughtful Ways To Cheer Someone Up on a Bad Day
Hey girl,
Being there for someone is part of friendship, and showing up for those close to us doesn’t always have to mean going out of our way, even though that might be a nice gesture. There are many thoughtful ways to cheer someone up on a bad day, but here are some of my go-to ideas when I have a friend who’s having a rough time.
Ways To Cheer Someone Up On A Bad Day
Let Them Confide in You
Having a day filled with stressors or inconveniences can add up to a rotten day. Not having an outlet to talk through emotions or having a moment of peace can become burdensome.
So if I know a friend who’s going through a rough patch, I try to offer a shoulder to cry on. It’s one of the most thoughtful ways to cheer someone up on a bad day, as letting emotions out can reduce stress and promote good health.
Drop Off a Gift for Them
Maybe a mom-friend hasn’t felt appreciated lately. Whether their spouse’s schedule is overwhelmed by work or they don’t feel like they’re at their best, it’s important to help show how important they are to others. So bringing them a small gift can make their day brighter.
One tradition I love to do with my friends is Galentine’s Day. Even though February 14 is typically for couples, there are tons of versatile Valentine’s Day gift ideas that are perfect for friends if they need a pick-me-up. A bath set can do so much for a friend after a long day of hard work.
Take Them Out for the Day
Getting out of the house can do wonders for a mother’s overall mood and energy. So if I know a mom-friend who needs to get out of the house, I like to take them out and do something fun.
We can either see a movie and grab lunch, get coffee together and talk about life, or even go to a local farmer’s market to buy some fresh produce and home goods. It will offer some fun and bring both of us closer together as friends.
Send Them a Nice Message or Two
Having conflicting schedules sometimes results in my friends and I not seeing each other. So if I know one of my mom-friends is having a rough day, I like to send them a kind message or a funny video to make their day a little better. It’s always a nice gesture and shows how much I appreciate them.
Having a bad day isn’t uncommon; life has many ups and downs. Taking the time to connect with our friends can do good for both of our moods.
