4 Must Do Tips For Moving
Hey, there friend,
When it comes to moving, the first few days can seem overwhelming with the amount of work and things that need to get accomplished. It can be even crazier when you are working or you have kids running around as well. Below are a few easy tips for moving to help make the move easier.
4 Must-Do Tips For Moving
-
Scout Out Moving Boxes:
One easy hack to help you begin your moving process is finding moving boxes to help store your items. Don’t fork over your hard-earned money for those cardboard boxes but look for free ones at your local recycling drop-off area.
Chances are, you’ll be able to find plenty of cardboard boxes that are tossed by neighbors. Some other places to look for moving boxes could be Freecycle, Craigslist, a neighborhood Facebook group, or any box areas. These are always great to look into when you are in a jam or looking to find some great discounts.
Schedule A Donation Pick Up:
While you are going through each room of your home or apartment, create a pile of items that you want to donate. Is there any heavy furniture or old clothing you don’t wear anymore? If you don’t want to haul all of it yourself, try scheduling a free donation pick up with a local charity such as Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, or the Salvation army.
This helps save you from having to haul everything yourself or any future injuries trying to get it to your car or a truck. It also allows you more free time to focus on important matters for your move as well.
Find A Reputable Moving Company:
Looking for a moving company may be a simple task but hiring the first one you find is not what you want to do. Instead, try to get a few quotes from at least three companies so you can compare their services and prices. Interview them and ask if they have insurance and are properly licensed within your state. Ask for references and follow up on them to make sure the customers were satisfied with their service and customer service as well.
If you live in California, a reputable and trustworthy company to call is Big Deahl’s Movers. Of course, by the title of the company, you’re in good hands with these men who truly can lift and move just about anything and everything. The team is respectful of your property and possessions to ensure that all the items arrive at the final location safely. They also use all sorts of equipment to keep things clean and maintained and I appreciate the detail-oriented and professional manner they have of getting things done. Be sure to call these Rancho Cucamonga safe movers if you need assistance.
Color Code To Make It Easier:
You don’t need to waste any money on fancy moving labels to make sure all your stuff is easy to locate. One of my favorite things is using simple and inexpensive post-it notes to color code the boxes. You can put a blue post-it note on anything you want to donate and a green one on anything you want to sell.
Yellow can be for moving and red can be for boxes that will go in a certain room. You can either write on the post-it notes for what goes where or have a separate piece of paper indicating what each post-it note is for.
There are probably many other tips and tricks to help save your sanity when moving. Do your best to try and pack a little at a time so as not to overwhelm yourself and your schedule. Have a few friends, family or neighbors stop by to help you pack to lighten your load. Schedule as many things as possible to help you such as a moving company who could help you pack instead of leaving it all up to you. All in all, just do your best. It’s an exciting time and a fresh start to look forward to.
