Hey friend,

The increase in people buying smartwatches certainly can’t be ignored. I mean, I was one of the people that thought they were really dumb when companies first introduced them, and even I tried one out last year. I ended up returning it because it didn’t have all the features I was looking for, but I’m keeping my eye on them to see how they improve.

Regardless of my slight disappointment, tons of people are buying these devices every day. While the market is expanding, the main buyers are from more niche groups rather than the general populace. So, who are these people? If you are looking into these watches as a potential gift for someone but are asking yourself, “What kind of person actually wants a smartwatch?” then this article was made just for you.

Who Is Best Suited For A Smartwatch?

Exercise Enthusiasts

This is the category I would have fallen into if the idea took off for me. Fortunately, if you’re more of a runner than I am, smartwatches are the way to go. They can track your distance, speed, heart rate, and many other stats while you’re on your daily jog. You can easily track all these results on your watch and phone, which helps you see how much you’ve improved since you started.

When I bought mine, I was hoping for more options for working out at the gym. The one I got had a few, but not a lot. However, during my research at the time, it seemed like a lot of companies were trying to make improvements that would fill the gaps. So, I might be giving smartwatches a second try in a few years.

Young Children

I don’t think anyone really foresaw these taking off with children. It makes sense, though. They are easy to pick up and learn how to use, making them great for kids who aren’t ready for a smartphone quite yet. Smartwatches made for kids are also much more durable, come in flashy colors, and include a sim card. That way, the watch doesn’t need to be connected to a smartphone to work.

Elderly People

For many of the reasons that smartwatches are a hit with kids, they are quite popular with the older generation as well. We all know how difficult it can be to explain to our elderly parents how to work a smartphone or computer. Luckily, smartwatches are simpler by design and have far fewer features to get confused on. Plus, they’re much more difficult to lose since they’re always on your wrist.

Some watches even have built-in health monitoring equipment that tracks blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, and blood oxygen levels. These can be tracked by the user or their loved ones in the case of an emergency.

Business-Centric Individuals

Another kind of person to actually want a smartwatch is someone in the business world. Not having to pull out your phone constantly to check important messages is a huge time saver. On top of that, you can have near-instant access to voice commands for setting up a last-minute meeting. With enough time, this corner of the market will become much larger than it currently is.

Smartwatches are pretty cool and have a lot of functionality. What are your thoughts? Share them with me in a comment! Make sure to subscribe before you go so you never miss a thang and if you’re a mama then you can snag some motherhood quote graphic FREEBIES!
