Freshen Your Garbage Disposal

Keeping your sink clean is a given, but how often do you think about cleaning your garbage disposal? Though you can’t easily see the inside, garbage disposals can quickly become dirty and smelly. If you notice a stench coming from your sink, cut up a lemon and drop it into the disposal while it’s running. Try to do this at least once every month.

Another great idea for when your disposal gets clogged is to try out this awesome Tik Tok hack! I see this everywhere and wanted to include it in case you haven’t seen this yet!

Wipe Down Your Backsplash

Cooking can get your counters and stovetop dirty, but what you may not notice is that your backsplash can get dirty quickly as well. If you splash something against the back wall while you cook, wipe it up right away to avoid staining. Clean the backsplash with a special cleaning spray or a mixture of baking soda and water to cut through built-up grease and grime.

Don’t Forget Your Range Hood

Another oft-forgotten part of kitchen maintenance is cleaning your range hood. There are a few types of maintenance you should be performing on your range hood, including cleaning its filters and body regularly and checking your vents for buildup.

To wash your range hood, remove the filter and wash it in your sink with hot water, dish soap, and baking soda. This will remove any grease that has accumulated on its surface and keep it functioning well.

Give Your Cooking Tools a Little TLC

While you’re tending to your kitchen’s counters, sink, and appliances, it’s easy to completely forget about the non-built-in parts: your cooking tools! Show your cooking utensils a little TLC by giving them a good cleaning every once in a while.

If you have metal pots, pans, spoons, or other kitchen supplies, remove any burnt-on food with a solution of vinegar and baking soda. Oil any wooden tools such as cutting boards to keep them in good condition. Sharpen your kitchen knives every year or two to keep them functioning well.

With the help of these kitchen maintenance tips, you should know, you’ll be able to keep all parts of your kitchen in top condition. A clean and well-maintained kitchen will pay off, as it will look much nicer than a dirty one and be a more pleasant place in which to spend time.
