Hey mamas,

So winter is here, and that means colder and drier conditions. With the changing weather also comes changes to our skin, so in this post, I am going to share with you my best winter skincare tips along with what products I use to keep my skin hydrated and glowing all winter long!

Winter Skin Care Tips

Our skin tends to get dry, flakey, and sometimes a little irritated in the winter because of how dry the air is. This dry air sucks the life and moisture right out of our skin, especially to our faces since they are the most sensitive to change and the most exposed.

Plus, if you’re like me in winter and spend pretty much 24/7 in front of your space heater, then yeah, your skin will be dry as a bone. So here are my tips for keeping your delicate skin moisturized and what products I personally recommend! Let’s get started…

Tip #1: Exfoliate

My first tip is to make sure you (gently) exfoliate at least 1 to 3 times a week. This will help to rid your face of dry patches, flakey spots, and help minimize those pores. Doing this regularly will greatly help your skin to stay soft, smooth, and ready for moisturizer and makeup. There are a lot of exfoliators out there, and some of them can actually damage your skin, so beware!

Look for an all-natural exfoliator that doesn’t use any kind of beads or harsh methods of stripping your skin of its natural moisture barrier. Use one that is filled with gentle exfoliators and contains natural exfoliates such as glycolic acid.

I have been using this natural peel for a while now and it is really awesome. It’s a bit strange as it mildly stings for a minute, but not to worry! That means it is doing its job. It also helps discoloration, scarring from acne and other major skin concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles!

I also will once-weekly use a facial scrub to really make sure my face is getting a good deep clean and all my flakiness is gone. I really like using one that has clay in it and has 100% clean ingredients such as the Acure Brightening Facial Scrub. We all need a bit of an extra healthy glow in the wintertime!

Tip #2: Mask It Up

Another thing that is necessary for soft, healthy, and glowing skin, is to do a regular face mask. Face masks are huge right now and I’m sure you probably have used them in their various forms before. Between sheet masks, peel off masks, and your basic deep cleansing mask, there is a lot to choose from!

Knowing which type works best for your skin is a must to avoid bad reactions and to make sure you are providing the right type of treatment to your face. If your skin is more mature and dry, a moisture-rich wash of mask would probably be best. If you have large pores and dull skin, a vitamin C sheet mask might be just what you need! Find a mask that suits your skin’s needs.

I try to do a weekly deep cleanse and detoxing clay mask to get all the gunk out of my pores and give my skin a little refresh. Bentonite clay is an all-around amazing and natural way to deep cleanse and remove toxins. Nothing will make your face feel cleaner and more refreshed than using this powerful stuff! If you’re not already using this in your skincare routine, you better get on it!

If you’re not really sure what type of face masks would work best for you, or you just love trying out new ones and having fun with them, then check out something like FaceTory! A 10 count face mask set that allows you to try different types of masks with the potential to fall in love with them all! Check it out!

  Tip #3: Moisturize!

Using a different moisturizer in the winter is something you should always do. Your skin has different needs this time of year, so switching out your warmer weather moisturizer for one that is richer is one of the best ways to combat dry skin. Choose a moisturizer that will sink deep into your skin and keep you soft and hydrated all day and night!

Find a day and night moisturizer that is filled with natural vitamins like C and E and also has ingredients such as Shea Butter, Oils, and or Aloe Vera. I highly recommend this ERA-Organics Complete Moisturizer.

When I am not using that one, I will use the Bliss Drench and Quench Cream-To-Water Daily Moisturizer. It is what I’m using right now and it keeps my skin so supple and glowy all day! They have so many blissful products! I am kind of obsessed with this brand right now!

Tip #4: Serum My Dear!

Even if you use a daily and nightly moisturizer, you should still be using a serum at some point in your regimen. Especially during winter. Fight aging and dull skin with a skin-boosting serum. I usually will use two, one before I apply my moisturizer and another one after. That may sound a bit overboard, but trust me, it actually isn’t.

I have acne-prone, combination skin, and I’m in my 30’s so I need all the help I can get when it comes to skincare. Even if your skin is different than mine or if you’re younger or older, I would recommend using at least one if not two serums somewhere in your daily routine. This one from Bliss is ahhhmmaazzing!!!

Tip #5: Protect That Face

Even though it’s winter, you should still be wearing an SPF. The sun may not be hot, but it can still cause damage to your skin the same as in summer. So whether it’s a sunscreen you apply before the rest of your skincare, or in a primer, making sure you have non-toxic SPF somewhere in your routine is a must to protect that face and keep you healthy and looking young!

I hope these tips will help you to achieve your best skin ever and give you a glowy boost this winter! If you’re interested in my makeup routine, you can check that out here!
