So, You Want To Be A Mompreneur? Avoid These 3 Mistakes

Become a mompreneuer, avoid these 3 mistakes | neveralonemom.com

Hey Mamas, How’s it going?

Are you currently or are you looking into becoming an awesome mompreneur? Then this post is so for you!

So, You Want To Be A Mompreneur? Avoid These 3 Mistakes

There’s no greater or nobler calling in life than being a parent. But if there’s one thing that parenthood does to a woman, other than giving her a profound sense of love and purpose that she had never previously thought possible, it’s giving her renewed sense of perspective. Motherhood represents a complete and irrevocable change to a woman’s psychology and the myriad of things that used to keep her awake at night simply pale in comparison to the sense of duty, responsibility, and accomplishment that comes with being a Mom. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that many women are reluctant to return to the workplace, especially against a backdrop of prejudice, discrimination, and mistrust toward new mothers.  It’s even more difficult as a single mom, our place is home with our children, otherwise, there will be no parent to actually raise them. So, insert amazing new mompreneur title here!

mompreneur | neveralonemom.com

In lieu of returning to work, many new or single mothers opt instead to develop their own businesses, thus becoming… mompreneurs. The women who choose to do this are trailblazers and should be commended for taking their futures (and those of their families) into their own hands. That said, the path of the momtrepreneur is perilous and full of pitfalls. In order to be a successful mompreneur, it’s vitally important to steer clear of these common mistakes…

Failing to find the balance

Like any self-employed person, a mompreneur walks a fine line in giving both her child and her business the attention they deserve, finding new routines to suit their dual role. Nearly all new mompreneurs dedicate too much time to their nascent businesses. While the first year of any business is a period of unparalleled hard work, but most new entrepreneurs don’t have to balance their commitments to their businesses with safeguarding another little life.

As a result, many new mompreneurs find themselves losing sleep, taking too little time to themselves and inevitably burning out.

Taking too much on themselves

Any business, especially a new business, wages a constant war against escalating overheads. Employees are one of the biggest overheads for a new business, and it can be tempting for new mompreneurs to try to do everything themselves. This is, however, the epitome of false economy. Taking on too much yourself will impede your business’ growth and make the who enterprise lonelier and more stressful than it needs to be.

A strong team will make your business a more enjoyable endeavor while facilitating real and lasting growth. If you’re hard pressed for cash, consider recruiting within the pool of Moms with whom you mix socially. They may appreciate the opportunity, even if you can’t pay them too much at the start. You can collaborate with them using free collaboration software like Slack and Asana and give them pay stubs using a check stub maker. When you’re business grows to new heights, you’ll be glad to have your team behind you.

Failing to outsource

Once again, the understandable desire to drive down overheads can lead to some wrongheaded decisions. While entrepreneurs are dynamic and multi-talented people, it’s important to realize that you can’t do everything yourself and some things are best left to the professionals. Digital marketing, for instance, may seem easy for the social media savvy but while nearly everyone knows how to create a presence and cultivate a following on social media, an outsourced digital marketing consultant will be able to help convert your online following into profitable business interest.

Avoiding these 3 missteps will be huge when creating your own home business. Always remember that you are doing something amazing, brave, and ultimately, what is best for your family. I hope these insights will help you soar high on your mompreneur adventures.

Please share!

A collaboration 🙂

Why Do I Feel So Empty? – Signs Of Depression & Mental Illness

Depression | neveralonemom.com

Hey there mamas,

So today on the blog I am sharing a fantastic article written by my friends at  http://www.betterhelp.com about the signs and symptoms of depression. Mental health is a topic that I think is very important and as a mom who struggles with depression and other mental health issues, I feel the need to share some info with you all as it seriously impacts us as moms and women.  I have written about mental health before since it’s such an important topic to me, so  I was very thankful for this article to share. Continue on to read how to better understand how you may be feeling. – Jess XO

Why Do I Feel So Empty?

Feeling empty is one of the loneliest feelings there is and it is so difficult to explain to people too. How do you tell someone what feeling empty is like? It is sort of like knowing there is something missing but not knowing what it is. It is a helpless and sad feeling that changes your whole outlook on life. If you cannot figure out what it is that is making you feel that way, that feeling may not go away. You may think it is because you are broke or because you had a fight with your best friend. However, these external things do not usually last. You may be sad for a while due to external issues like this but it does not continue day after day. That is about your inner perspective and what your expectations are. Figuring out what is causing this feeling is not easy.

What Does Feeling Empty Feel Like?

You may be feeling tired and rundown or you may feel numbness. These feelings are usually a sign that there is something going on with your mental health. You may be stressed out or anxious about something or you may be depressed. Figuring out why you are feeling this way is important so you can get back to your normal life. Has anything happened to you recently that is affecting your mental health like losing your job or the loss of a family member? These things can trigger an episode of emptiness that may not go away until you address it. Maybe you are suffering from a physical illness that you cannot get rid of or you may be having trouble sleeping. These feelings you are having can affect your life, your work, and your relationships as well.

Getting Some Help

It may be time to talk to someone about these feelings so you can get your life back on track. This does not mean that you need to run out and find a psychiatrist or psychologist. Your first step should be talking to your regular doctor. Get a physical checkup and tell the doctor how you are feeling. He may find something simple that is wrong such as a hormone imbalance or vitamin deficiency. If that is the case, a prescription may be able to fix your emptiness feeling. If not, he may suggest you talk to a therapist.

Therapy Online

If you do not want to make an appointment and see a therapist, there are other options that can make it easier. Online mental health resources such as BetterHelp.com can help you find someone to talk to and you do not even need to leave the house or make an appointment. In fact, you can try a chat room at first to see how you like that. A chat room is a good place to talk to others anonymously about your feelings and get advice from others who have similar issues. If that is not for you, there are over 2,000 licensed professionals available to talk to you online anytime on your smartphone or other electronic devices. Give it a try and you could be feeling better today!

Beauty Hacks For Moms

beauty hacks for moms | neveralonemom.com

Hey there mamas!

Today I will be doing a quick post featuring my top 5 picks for the best beauty hacks for us busy moms. I don’t think I need to add much more than that, so if you’re ready to begin, then lets’ jump right in!

beauty hacks for moms | neveralonemom.com

  1. Winged Liner Tricks: Do you love the look of winged liner or shadow but hate how much time and effort it takes to create the look? Well, I just learned some tricks that will save the day and our fabulous eyes! Using a bobby pin, place the pin right on the corner of your eye where you want your wing to be, then just draw your wing inside the bobby pin making an almost perfect base for a dramatic wing! Then just fill it in and bam! You can also use a clear piece of tape to create flawless winged eyeshadow! Just place the piece of tape right under your eye and create the look you want, then gently remove the tape for a perfect line!

2. Egg Whites For Your Eyes: Here is a perfect little hack for those crazy mornings where you look like the busy stressed out tired mom you are.  For a quick all natural fix you can do during breakfast, just whip up some egg whites and place them under your eyes for a few minutes to get rid of those under eye bags! So next time you’re making breakfast for the kids, remember to save some eggs for yourself for a fresh looking face!

  1. Rubber Band Manicure: Love the look of a french manicure but don’t have the time to go to the nail salon or have the money to pay for one?  Well, here is an easy way to get a perfect salon look at home! Using a rubber band, place it around your finger near the top of your nail and paint the tip of your nail and then remove the rubber band! Boom!

4. Overnight Hair & Body Mask: As moms, we don’t always have time for self-care, so this overnight trick is perfect for giving silky soft hair and skin with almost zero time! Simply slather on some coconut oil all over your body, right after a bath or shower would be best, and don’t forget to slather your hair in the stuff as well. Then go to bed as usual and wake up to the softest hair and smoothest arms and legs! Good deal right?

5. Set Your Hair: My last pick is a hairstyle hack that I do allllll the time! Straight after washing your hair, whether it be AM or PM, just twist your hair up all around your head and pin with bobby pins. You can also use a headband and just twist your hair and tuck it under the headband. Leave for an hour or two while you finish getting ready, or you can blast it with the blow dryer to speed things along if you have less time. Or sleep on it overnight.  When you let your hair down, you will be left with perfect waves or bouncy curls, depending on your hair type and how tight you twisted your locks.  Run your fingers through it and set with a styling hairspray and there you go! Easy peasy way to style your hair without damaging your hair or taking, even more, time to dry and use a styling device.  Thank me later you gorgeous thing. 😉

And that’s all she wrote! I hope you enjoyed my quick fix beauty hacks and that you have found a new way to keep yourself looking amazing even when you feel like crying on the inside.  Admit it, all of us moms feel this way….no lie.

Much Love,

Jess XO

The Perfect Morning Routine

the perfect morning routine | neveralonemom.com

The perfect morning routine

So I need to confess something, I am not a morning person. Nope, not in the slightest. I avoid them at all costs. But life has a way of forcing me to get out of bed and face the world far before I am ready. So when this happens, which it happens fairly often, having a perfect morning routine is very helpful.  I find that having a set routine in the mornings, especially as a mom and entrepreneur, it is key to starting the day right. Whether you are an energetic morning person, or more of a bed bug like myself, I think you can make all of these elements work for you. So here is what the perfect morning routine consists of:

  • Wake up to delight. What do I mean by that? Well to really start the day off with positivity, have your coffee already set to auto brew around the time you wake up, so the first thing you smell is hot, delicious, brewing coffee. Also, use a clock radio as an alarm if you need one, so when it’s time to get up your favorite radio station comes on instead of a loud annoying alarm. You can start your morning with music, the smell of coffee and looking out of the window to see what the day looks like and let the light into your room. Sounds perfect already! Here’s a really neat clock radio if you don’t already have one: Clock Radio

  • Breakfast. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it matters what you eat. Something healthy, filling, and delicious should be top choice. I personally make either homemade pancakes and top them with berries and whipped cream, or if I’m more crunched for time I whip up a quick superfood smoothie. Fueling up with delicious goodness is the perfect start to the day, I say. For a great pancake recipe click here.

  • Do you like to read? I find that reading something encouraging, like a daily devotional, or inspirational book of some kind while eating breakfast and having coffee is the perfect way to put some positive notes into your mind for the day. Or maybe if reading isn’t exactly your thing, just pick up your phone and scroll through some inspiration quotes on Pinterest or even just find some awesome recipes, DIY’s, whatever you like! It’s sure to start you off with a smile and a creative pep in your step! Here are links to some awesome daily reads! Book 1  Book 2

  •   Next up is getting started on the morning to-dos. Make the bed, feed the pets, brush your teeth and all that jazz. Sometimes putting on an entertaining morning tv talk show, podcast or music helps the morning chores feel less…chore like, more enjoyable and it seems to make everything go faster. Get r’ done! 😉 For a list of the 30 best podcasts streaming right now, check this out.

  • Exercise is great for the mornings because it gives you energy for the day at hand. It can be hard to find time to fit in a workout or some type of exercise, the struggle is real! So this is why throwing in a quick exercise routine before you start on the day’s work is so important. Even just 10 minutes is great. Be strong, be fierce and be well. If you need a quick workout to do each morning I highly recommend this one right here! 10 Minute Workout

Mom Self Care Toolkit -Freebie!-

Self Care For Moms | neveralonemom.com

Hey mommas!

I have something very special to share with you, and I know you are going to love it! I am very excited to share this mom self-care toolkit with you that a friend of mine has put together. Read on to hear her story and to get this awesome toolkit for yourself! (It’s free!) 😀

Six years ago, my friend Jen Riday was struggling with her at-the-time 5 kids.

She had just suffered a miscarriage.

And she baaarely liked her husband.

She hit rock bottom and started to feel like there was no purpose to her life. She had given everything to her family… baking bread, throwing elaborate birthday parties, trying to be the “perfect” mom.

But she kind of lost herself in the process.

Today, she is feeling great and happier than ever (and she now has 6 kids!). She has become a Women’s Happiness Expert so she can help other moms find their way out from those low points we sometimes fall into.

So the big question is — how did she make such a huge shift in just 6 years?

Well, Jen has created a free digital toolkit that compiles all of her best tips on exactly what she did.

And guess what? She’s letting me hook you up with that toolkit — for free! (Yasss) 😀

Sign up to get free access to the toolkit here.

So what IS this toolkit, exactly?

It’s the Self Care Toolkit for Busy Moms.

It includes a video training, a workbook, the “Wheel of Happiness” (if you like wheels and you like happiness, you’ll love this! Seriously, though, the WoH is amazing!), and 2 guided meditations Jen created just for moms like you.

The toolkit is packed with some of Jen’s best teachings.

The thing I love about Jen is that she has a fun teaching style where she’s able to break down complex ideas into simple, easy-to-follow steps. (Her thousands of students would probably agree!)

And the best part about this training? It’s all online– so you can get crackalackin’ right now on learning how to take time for yourself (without guilt and without any hassle).

All you have to do is sign up for the series here (there’s no charge).

I hope you’re going to snag up this awesome freebie! I also hope that it brings you joy and some much-needed support!

Lastly, if you are interested in hearing Jen talk about her mom toolkit then you can listen to her right here on her podcast!

I’m so excited about this! Be sure to grab your toolkit now!

Enjoy!

Much Love,

Jess XO

Why Single Parenting Is Never Wrong

Why Single Parenting Is Never Wrong | neveralonemom.com

Hey there, I’m about to ruffle a few feathers, so hang tight.

I am here to tell you why single parenting is never wrong…

Ok guys….I’ve been very upset lately because I have been hearing and reading a lot about how so many people have negative views and opinions on single parenting and I have had enough!  As a single mom, I am very offended by people always criticizing me on raising my son on my own. I’ve heard everything from it isn’t right, it’s not good for the child, it’s emotionally unstable blah blah blah! I’m so sick of it.  It’s all a bunch of bunk.

These people have never had to be single parents so they don’t have a clue or any right to say the things they say. They may throw statistics or so-called “science” out there to try and convince you that raising a child without a father, or in some cases, a mother is wrong and bad for the child. Well, let me tell you something. When you are a single parent, by circumstances or by choice, it is never wrong. How could it be? We are more than capable of raising children without the help of another parent.  Millions of parents do it just fine and we don’t need a bunch of stuck up, critical and judgemental creeps telling us that loving our children and doing our best for them is wrong.

Parenting Is | neveralonemom.com
Image via Pinterest

Being  deeply upset by this issue  I can no longer hold my tongue, (or fingers, in this case. ) I have chosen to work from home, so I can be with my son all the time. Since I am his only parent I feel that it is right to make myself more available for him and to be present with him all day. I know that he needs me, and he has not missed not having another parent around. I am more than enough for him.  I homeschool him, I take him to basketball practice and cheer from the stands, I do art projects and play legos with him, we have movie nights and heart to heart talks. I answer all of his life questions and explain things he needs to understand, we read books, say our prayers and I tuck him into bed each night as he drifts off to sleep with such a peaceful expression. So tell me, how is that wrong exactly?  My son is happy, well adjusted and does just fine without a father. He came into the world in that cold delivery room to just me, all he ever needed was just me and all he will ever need is just me. I have enough love, time, dedication and strength to be enough for him as he grows up and I believe the same for all single parents.

We know our children, and if we feel that something is missing from their lives or they express to us that they need something then we will fulfill their needs to the best of our abilities and make sure that they know how much they are loved. If they ever need more, then we will do our best to give it to them. Your statics may be accurate for some, but not all and in the end, it’s more about the child’s own choices in life and less about how they were raised that determines their behavior. At least that’s my opinion. Take a look at this article published on The Huffington Post, it’s a great read! 5 Reasons It’s Better To Be A Single Parent

Being A Single Parent | neveralonemom.com

I know I’ve gotten a little intense in this post, but this issue just makes my blood boil. When it comes down to it, God gave us our children. He chose us to be our children’s parents and God doesn’t make mistakes. We can only do our best, and our best will always be good enough. I may want a father for my son, but I certainly don’t need one, and neither does he. He has told me so and I take his word for it.  As single parents, we are stronger, tougher, and full of more love. Nothing wrong with that!

Please like, share and leave me a comment! You guys rock!

Love & Laughter,

Jess XO
