Wonderful Winter Crafts For The Coziest Time Of Year

12 / 22 / 17

Happy Winter Mamas!

Wintertime tends to be very focused on Christmas, but the festive period has come and gone right before winter has really kicked in. January and February are by far the coldest and most wintery months, and so if you like to embrace the season there’s still lots you can do when Christmas is done that doesn’t involve sitting around waiting until spring! People can see the start of the year as quite a drab and dull but really it’s a great opportunity to get cozy, snuggle up and enjoy any snow that falls. On a wet or cold weekend, here are some crafts that you can do with or without your little ones to celebrate winter. Here are some wonderful winter crafts!

Candle Holders

There are a few different ways you could go about creating candle holders that will look wonderful with your winter decor. The first would be to find a suitably sized log, and saw off the bottom so it lays flat. Then drill holes into it even distances apart to put candles into. Finish it off with sprigs of holly or glue on pine cones, you can buy cordless glue guns from just about any hobby shop and they are useful for any crafter to have in their stash. Finish with some other wintery foliage for a pretty centerpiece to any table.

Winter Wreath

Wreaths don’t just have to be for Christmas, they make a stunning addition to the front door or even indoors any time of the year. Once your Christmas wreath has died off, why not get to work on a general winter one? It could be made of twigs, foliage, pine cones and other bits and pieces you can find in the garden or in the woods. It could be made out of wood, twine, flowers, anything that can withstand the winter weather. If you’re making a wreath for indoors you could use fabric or paper too as there’s no worry of it getting wet. There are tons of ideas on Pinterest! 😉

Pot Pourri

A bowl of homemade potpourri will make your home smell nice, and there are lots of lovely Christmassy bits and pieces you can include in it. Acorns, pine cones, dried flowers and twigs can be mix with things like cinnamon sticks, cloves, whole nuts with dried berries and orange slices. Add a few drops of your favorite wintery essential oil (cinnamon, ginger and warming vanilla work well) and display in a big bowl. A beautiful and scent-tastic bit of additional wintry splendor.

Snowflake Cookies

Home baked treats with a steaming mug of hot chocolate, – could anything be nicer on a cold winter’s day? Snowflake cookies look perfect for the winter and are easy to make- a simple shortbread recipe, a snowflake cutter, and some icing is all you need. It’s something kids can get involved in, and they make a fantastic treat if you have guests coming round or just for yourself! Not too Christmassy looking once the festivities are over, but still wonderfully wintery. If you wanted to go all out you could even add some edible glitter spray to the icing!

Are you excited to go and create some wonderful things this winter? I know I am! Enjoy these craft ideas and may your winter season be warm with love! Be sure to comment & share!
