Wonderful Winter Crafts For The Coziest Time Of Year

wonderful winter crafts | neveralonemom.com

Happy Winter Mamas!

Wintertime tends to be very focused on Christmas, but the festive period has come and gone right before winter has really kicked in. January and February are by far the coldest and most wintery months, and so if you like to embrace the season there’s still lots you can do when Christmas is done that doesn’t involve sitting around waiting until spring! People can see the start of the year as quite a drab and dull but really it’s a great opportunity to get cozy, snuggle up and enjoy any snow that falls. On a wet or cold weekend, here are some crafts that you can do with or without your little ones to celebrate winter. Here are some wonderful winter crafts!

Candle Holders

There are a few different ways you could go about creating candle holders that will look wonderful with your winter decor. The first would be to find a suitably sized log, and saw off the bottom so it lays flat. Then drill holes into it even distances apart to put candles into. Finish it off with sprigs of holly or glue on pine cones, you can buy cordless glue guns from just about any hobby shop and they are useful for any crafter to have in their stash. Finish with some other wintery foliage for a pretty centerpiece to any table.

Winter Wreath

Wreaths don’t just have to be for Christmas, they make a stunning addition to the front door or even indoors any time of the year. Once your Christmas wreath has died off, why not get to work on a general winter one? It could be made of twigs, foliage, pine cones and other bits and pieces you can find in the garden or in the woods. It could be made out of wood, twine, flowers, anything that can withstand the winter weather. If you’re making a wreath for indoors you could use fabric or paper too as there’s no worry of it getting wet. There are tons of ideas on Pinterest! 😉

Pot Pourri

A bowl of homemade potpourri will make your home smell nice, and there are lots of lovely Christmassy bits and pieces you can include in it. Acorns, pine cones, dried flowers and twigs can be mix with things like cinnamon sticks, cloves, whole nuts with dried berries and orange slices. Add a few drops of your favorite wintery essential oil (cinnamon, ginger and warming vanilla work well) and display in a big bowl. A beautiful and scent-tastic bit of additional wintry splendor.

Snowflake Cookies

Home baked treats with a steaming mug of hot chocolate, – could anything be nicer on a cold winter’s day? Snowflake cookies look perfect for the winter and are easy to make- a simple shortbread recipe, a snowflake cutter, and some icing is all you need. It’s something kids can get involved in, and they make a fantastic treat if you have guests coming round or just for yourself! Not too Christmassy looking once the festivities are over, but still wonderfully wintery. If you wanted to go all out you could even add some edible glitter spray to the icing!

Are you excited to go and create some wonderful things this winter? I know I am! Enjoy these craft ideas and may your winter season be warm with love! Be sure to comment & share!

10 Things To Never Say To A Single Mom

Hey there sexy mamas!
So, I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while becasue I’ve had it up to wazoo with dealing with the dumb things people can say. I’m sure all these things have been said to you and as a single mom doesn’t it just make you want to strangle the person? Ok…maybe that’s just me…I tend to have a violent imagination haha…so I have made a list of 10 things to never say to a single mom. Let’s get into this.
  1. Get a sitter.

Yeah, I’m just going to leave my kid with some random stranger or dump them on a friend or relative so I can go hang out with you. Sure. Oh, and I’ll be pulling money out from my arse to pay them as well. Sounds terrific. See you at 8. Do people actually expect a single mother to just have someone available at all times to watch their kid so they can just take off whenever? Look, I am taking care of my child/ren ALONE. I cannot and will not be going out with you tonight. Don’t be dumb.
2.Where’s the dad? What happened?

This question makes me want to show them my inner ghetto attitude with a very nasty “that aint none ya business!” But instead I just answer them leaving out all the horrific and angering details even though it isn’t any of their business. My kid’s dad is in Acapulco working as a spy for the Government protecting us from the aliens if you must know, becasue why else would he not be in his kids life?
3. Doesn’t the dad help? Does he get them?

Why do people even ask this? When they look at a single mom what makes them think to ask if the dad helps out or sees them sometimes? Not all separated families co-parent. Most actually don’t. So don’t be nosy.
4. Do they have different dads?

If you have more then one child I’m sure you’ve been asked this. It’s frustrating isn’t it? I can’t believe people actually ask this. Just don’t.
5. No statistics.

People love quoting statistics to us. Like as if they think telling us facts which are mostly wrong will make us change our entire lives for the better. Seriously? If you are not a single parent, then don’t you dare quote statistics to me and think you’re being helpful. You’re not.

6. You single moms.

Never ever start off a conversion by saying “you single moms” umm…excuse me? Us single moms? Watch it sweetie. It’s just like saying all you hat wearers. Really?
7.I feel like a single mom too.

Ok, let’s get something straight. If you are married, are in a relationship or something to that effect then no, you cannot say that you relate to being a single mom in any way. Women are always saying, my husband works all the time, or he travels a lot or my boyfriend doesn’t help with my kids so I feel like a single mom too. You’re kidding me right? No honey, you have no clue what being a real single mom is like. So appreciate the man you have in your life and shut your mouth.
8. How do you do it alone?

How do you ask? Really now. Umm well, the same way any other mom on the planet does it. By loving my child/ren with all my heart and doing my best for them. I am perfectly capable and you should believe that I am too. I just simply do it. There isn’t a how. There is no single mom manual. Love is all you need.
9. Poor kid, he/she doesn’t have a dad.

I’m sorry? Did I hear you correctly? My poor kid? That’s hilarious. There is nothing poor or sad about my kid not having a dad. My son is lucky and better off to not have his dad in the picture. As long as a child is loved, then no. They are not poor and they are not missing out on anything.
10. I’m sorry.

When someone tells me they are sorry that I’m a single mom I seriously don’t understand. You’re sorry for….what? Please explain why it’s so awful that I have beautiful kids that I get to take care of and love. I don’t know what it is you feel so sorry for but, I don’t accept your apology. I would however, love to accept a coffee.

I hope this has opened your eyes a bit and taught you how to respond to these ridiculous questions or what not to say to any single mom you come across. We are in this together.  On your own, but never alone. 😉

Spring Cleaning Hacks For Moms

                                                                        Spring Cleaning Time!

Hey sexy mamas! Spring has officially sprung so I thought I would put together some really nifty spring cleaning hacks for all you busy stressed out mamas who could use a hand when it comes to keeping the house clean and organized. I know I sure could! So without further ado, let’s get into this.

  • Hack #1:  If you have a microfiber couch, this is going to save it. Seriously. For all the dirt, stains, pet hair and all around uck that lives on your couch, here is a genius way to get it back to looking brand new and like you don’t have any kids living with you! Just mix 1 part rubbing alcohol and 1 part water in a spray bottle, spritz all over your couch, focusing on the dirty spots then take a clean white sponge and wipe away all the mess. Lastly, to spruce it all up and make it look new, once the couch is dry take a bristle brush and go over all the microfibers to fluff.  Bam! Clean and new looking couch! 😉

  • Hack #2: You probably know that your dishwasher and washing machine can be used to sanitize yucky things, but do you actually do it? I’m guessing your answer is no….well, it’s time to start! This is perfect for sanitizing all those germy toys after your kids have been sick, or smashed them in the mud, spilled juice etc or even the drooly baby toys or pet toys.  So, for the hard plastic toys that will be safe for the dishwasher, just toss them in, no detergent needed and put on sanitize.  For the plush and softer toys, stuffed animals etc, just toss them into the washer on its sanitize mode. Easy peasy!

  • Hack #3: Life with kids equals carpet stains, that’s just how it is. No matter how hard we try, we can’t escape the messes and accidents that those little monsters bring with them. So, to battle, the stains left behind, here is a hack that is sure to bring up the stains leaving your carpet fresh and clean….for like 5 seconds right? Mix water and vinegar into a spray bottle and soak the area with the stain, then place a damp cloth over the spot.  Now take an iron…yes, an iron, and place on top of the cloth on the steam setting and let it sit on the spot for about half a minute. Then take off the iron, and lift up the cloth to reveal the stain gone! Pure magic!

  • Hack #4: Got greasy spills on your kid’s clothes? No worries! It’s not ruined forever if you have chalk handy! Just grab a piece of white chalk, it has to be white and rub it all over the greasy spot then just toss it into the wash as usual. The chalk will absorb all the grease to help take it all out in the wash. Flippin’ brilliant!

  • Hack #5: When spring cleaning time comes, organization is key. Sorting through outgrown clothes, the toys they no longer play with and all the random junk your house accumulates, it’s good to organize everything into separate boxes for easier sorting, decision making and storage.  Dedicate a clean storage bin to each item of things you are cleaning out in your house, one box for the clothes to donate or store away, one for the toys, and so on. Having clear bins is helpful because you can see exactly what’s in each box without having to label anything. It makes spring cleaning so much less stressful and you can easily organize and store all the stuff you’re cleaning out. These bins right here are perfect!

Ok mamas, now you’re ready to rock n’ roll and tackle your spring cleaning! Hope I’ve helped to make it less of a dreaded chore! Enjoy the hacks, may they bring you much peace.

I am very excited to offer you another amazing toolkit! This one is for bloggers so if you are a fellow blogger then this is gonna rock your world! So can I ask you a question? Ever feel overwhelmed by blogging?

You’re not alone.

There have been so many times in my own blogging journey when I’ve felt daunted by what I was learning and doing and struggled to overcome challenges like increasing my traffic and income in ways that matched my lifestyle and values.

Overall, blogging has been one of those incredible “pinch me” parts of my life. I can hardly believe I get to do something I love so much and be part of such a special community.

But it isn’t always easy, and the fast-changing nature of the blogosphere means I can’t ever stop learning how to be a better blogger.

I’ve found my blog really thrives when I’m growing in my skills, connecting with others who get the work I’m doing and pushing myself to try new things and improve my weak areas.

I make a point of prioritizing my growth as a blogger, and one of the best ways I’ve found is by learning from other experienced bloggers who’ve mastered a particular aspect of blogging.

Problem is, it can get pretty pricey to buy all the new books or courses that cover the topics I’m looking for.

Which is why I am over the moon about the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit.

It’s a digital package crammed full of brilliant tools to help you grow your blog, work smarter & make more money.

(But for way less than you’d normally spend!)

But the truly amazing part? They’re selling it for a crazy 97% off of regular price!

I know, it sounds too good to be true, but I promise it’s not. Ultimate Bundles has been around a long time and creating these packages is really their thing (they’ve sold over 180,000 of them on all sorts of topics), so you can trust this is the real deal.

Even better, they’re all about making sure you LOVE this toolkit. There’s a full 30-day happiness guarantee, so there’s really no risk in trying it out.

The Perfect Morning Routine

the perfect morning routine | neveralonemom.com

The perfect morning routine

So I need to confess something, I am not a morning person. Nope, not in the slightest. I avoid them at all costs. But life has a way of forcing me to get out of bed and face the world far before I am ready. So when this happens, which it happens fairly often, having a perfect morning routine is very helpful.  I find that having a set routine in the mornings, especially as a mom and entrepreneur, it is key to starting the day right. Whether you are an energetic morning person, or more of a bed bug like myself, I think you can make all of these elements work for you. So here is what the perfect morning routine consists of:

  • Wake up to delight. What do I mean by that? Well to really start the day off with positivity, have your coffee already set to auto brew around the time you wake up, so the first thing you smell is hot, delicious, brewing coffee. Also, use a clock radio as an alarm if you need one, so when it’s time to get up your favorite radio station comes on instead of a loud annoying alarm. You can start your morning with music, the smell of coffee and looking out of the window to see what the day looks like and let the light into your room. Sounds perfect already! Here’s a really neat clock radio if you don’t already have one: Clock Radio

  • Breakfast. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it matters what you eat. Something healthy, filling, and delicious should be top choice. I personally make either homemade pancakes and top them with berries and whipped cream, or if I’m more crunched for time I whip up a quick superfood smoothie. Fueling up with delicious goodness is the perfect start to the day, I say. For a great pancake recipe click here.

  • Do you like to read? I find that reading something encouraging, like a daily devotional, or inspirational book of some kind while eating breakfast and having coffee is the perfect way to put some positive notes into your mind for the day. Or maybe if reading isn’t exactly your thing, just pick up your phone and scroll through some inspiration quotes on Pinterest or even just find some awesome recipes, DIY’s, whatever you like! It’s sure to start you off with a smile and a creative pep in your step! Here are links to some awesome daily reads! Book 1  Book 2

  •   Next up is getting started on the morning to-dos. Make the bed, feed the pets, brush your teeth and all that jazz. Sometimes putting on an entertaining morning tv talk show, podcast or music helps the morning chores feel less…chore like, more enjoyable and it seems to make everything go faster. Get r’ done! 😉 For a list of the 30 best podcasts streaming right now, check this out.

  • Exercise is great for the mornings because it gives you energy for the day at hand. It can be hard to find time to fit in a workout or some type of exercise, the struggle is real! So this is why throwing in a quick exercise routine before you start on the day’s work is so important. Even just 10 minutes is great. Be strong, be fierce and be well. If you need a quick workout to do each morning I highly recommend this one right here! 10 Minute Workout

Now it is time for the day to begin, and you feel ready to tackle anything this day throws at you because you now have the perfect morning routine! I wish you all wellness, happiness and the perfect morning.

Mom Self Care Toolkit -Freebie!-

Self Care For Moms | neveralonemom.com

Hey mommas!

I have something very special to share with you, and I know you are going to love it! I am very excited to share this mom self-care toolkit with you that a friend of mine has put together. Read on to hear her story and to get this awesome toolkit for yourself! (It’s free!) 😀

Six years ago, my friend Jen Riday was struggling with her at-the-time 5 kids.

She had just suffered a miscarriage.

And she baaarely liked her husband.

She hit rock bottom and started to feel like there was no purpose to her life. She had given everything to her family… baking bread, throwing elaborate birthday parties, trying to be the “perfect” mom.

But she kind of lost herself in the process.

Today, she is feeling great and happier than ever (and she now has 6 kids!). She has become a Women’s Happiness Expert so she can help other moms find their way out from those low points we sometimes fall into.

So the big question is — how did she make such a huge shift in just 6 years?

Well, Jen has created a free digital toolkit that compiles all of her best tips on exactly what she did.

And guess what? She’s letting me hook you up with that toolkit — for free! (Yasss) 😀

Sign up to get free access to the toolkit here.

So what IS this toolkit, exactly?

It’s the Self Care Toolkit for Busy Moms.

It includes a video training, a workbook, the “Wheel of Happiness” (if you like wheels and you like happiness, you’ll love this! Seriously, though, the WoH is amazing!), and 2 guided meditations Jen created just for moms like you.

The toolkit is packed with some of Jen’s best teachings.

The thing I love about Jen is that she has a fun teaching style where she’s able to break down complex ideas into simple, easy-to-follow steps. (Her thousands of students would probably agree!)

And the best part about this training? It’s all online– so you can get crackalackin’ right now on learning how to take time for yourself (without guilt and without any hassle).

All you have to do is sign up for the series here (there’s no charge).

I hope you’re going to snag up this awesome freebie! I also hope that it brings you joy and some much-needed support!

Lastly, if you are interested in hearing Jen talk about her mom toolkit then you can listen to her right here on her podcast!

I’m so excited about this! Be sure to grab your toolkit now!

Enjoy!

Much Love,

Jess XO

This new Netflix original showcases the life of a single mom and her struggles with a twist of humor and a dash of chaos. It’s sure to make you laugh and thank the good Lord you are not her. Add this show now!

Weeds
This one is a bit older and it’s still one of the best when it comes to showing a powerful single mom making her way through this crazy world. She herself may be a bit nuts, but…aren’t we all!?

This one is for the brave few of us that want a little cringe and shock factor in our shows. Based off of the original story, this show has quickly become as much of a classic as the movies that made the Bates famous. If you’re in for a gruesome tale of mother and son, this one is a must watch!

Another oldie but goodie, Reba, naturally starring Reba McEntire, is a comedic sitcom all about single mom life in Texas. It’s sure to bring on the laughter and drag out your “ya’ll”.

Mom
This hilarious comedy about a single mom played wonderfully by Anna Farris and her relationship with her own mother is one to definitely bring out the heart and gold of the life of moms. Be sure to binge this one tonight!

What would a list of t.v shows be without Gilmore Girls? I’d hate to even think….this show is a personal favorite of mine and I think of like everyone else on the planet…am I right? Now matter how many times you watch this amazing show about mother and daughter you immediately want to start over and watch it all again.
